Robin and Linda Williams opened the country and bluegrass feast at the Big Gig.

... Robin and Linda Williams, backed by Jim Watson on bass guitar and Kevin Maul on dobro, opened with the night's most contemporary and most powerful set.

Teaming up to create the sweetest husband/wife harmonies this side of Johnny Cash and June Carter, the Staunton-based couple moved gracefully from the country-folk of "Gone to the West" and their Hank Williams tribute, "Rollin' and Ramblin" to the haunting "They All Faded Away" and the reverent country roots of "High Atmosphere."

In keeping with the spirit of the evening, the Williamses included a little gospel in their song list, highlighted by a stirring a cappella version of "Sinner Man" and their own "Stumbling Blocks and Stepping Stones."
