Robin and Linda Williams: December's News
Dear Friends, What's mainly on our minds is our last Robin and Linda gig of 2021, a hometown gig no less which makes it just a little more special. These, after all, are the folks who've heard us up close and personal for more years than we like to think about, who know our jokes and have supported our music and still come out to see us play. This time around wev'e got the songs from our new CD, 'A Better Day A-Coming" up and ready to play. And we've been working on the songs from "The First Christmas Gift," our Holiday CD, as well. Those songs are getting to us and we're beginning to get "that feeling." We're excited to have the season of giving and good will fast approaching. In the Out-of-the-Usual Department: 2 Hank Williams Shows: This will be the 25th year and we'll join with some really talented performers, Cathy Fink, Marcy Marxer, Phil Wiggins, Patrick McAvinue and Mark Schatz, to pay tribute to Hank Williams. No one ever wrote 'em or sangÕem like Hank! . 3 Music At The Movies: The first Thursday of 2022 we'll be hosting a showing in Staunton, VA of "Without Getting Killed Or Caught," a wonderful documentary about Guy and Susanna Clark and Townes Van Zandt, three songwriting pioneers of the Alt Country/Americana Nashville scene who've influenced countless other songwriters and performers, yours truly included. We first knew these folks in Nashville when we were just starting out, before moving to the Shenandoah Valley, and we've recorded several of Townes' songs. Tamara Saviano and Paul Whitfield produced and directed this killer film and Paul, coincidentally, grew up in Staunton and is the brother of the former mayor. There will be a few songs from us before the movie and then a discussion afterwards. Bumper Sticker Of The Month :Learning English is hard, but it can be taught through tough, thorough thought, though. As we head into the Holiday season we are filled with gratitude, for good health, for friends, for a new CD and the outstanding response it has accrued and, through fits and starts, for the return of live performances. Here's hoping that in 2022 we'll continue to progress on a positive course toward peace and prosperity for all. Thanks for taking time to read our newsletters and remember, music makes you smarter.
